Our role as jurors in the second edition World IP Day essay contest 2025

Our partners Alexandre and Christian were part of a committee of jurors hand picked by the Haitian PTO Director to evaluate the best dissertations from students submissions at the occasion of World IP Day celebrations in Haiti last year.

The question asked was the following: “The Importance of Protecting Geographical Indications in the Valorization of Products of Local Origin: What Strategy for Haiti?”

We read over 30 papers, providing feedback to guide those who would not be selected.

This topic was particularly a great one for Haiti, which has distinctive local products that have sprung from its traditional know-how and particular geography.

Beyond the legal analysis, it was important for us as jurors to also share feedback on the business side of succeeding at exporting local products.
